Cash for eggs

A fertility clinic boss has confirmed that he paid women to donate eggs later used in stem cell research by therapeutic cloning expert Woo Suk Hwang at Seoul National University. Sung Il Roh, chief of the MizMedi clinic in South Korea, said he paid 16 women about $1500 each. He says he did so without the knowledge of Hwang, whose team told Science that the eggs were donated for free.
