Building the tunnel to France

The most frequent question asked about the proposed channel tunnel must be “Why don’t they get on and build it?” One good reason is that the plans are far from settled. A long series of geological drillings has determined the simplest route out to and underneath the channel – according to one site engineer the natural geology could have been “cut specially for the job”.
