Biofuels vs food

China and India risks future famine by using scarce water to irrigate biofuel crops rather than food, according to a study from the International Water Management Institute, a World Bank-backed research body based in Sri Lanka. The two countries are expected to provide two-thirds of the global growth in biofuels: maize in China and sugar cane in India.
