Thank the cows for Europe's satnav

If Europe’s satellite navigation system gets off the ground, we’ll have the cows to thank.

At a meeting in Brussels on 23 November, the European Council voted to make up the bulk of a €2.4 billion hole in Galileo’s budget by taking unused funds from the agricultural budget. The shortfall was caused by the reluctance of private aerospace companies to invest in the project.
