Transplant surgeon charged

In the first case of its kind in the US, a transplant surgeon is to stand trial in California for allegedly hastening the death of a potential organ donor. Hootan Roozrokh faces a charge of “dependent adult abuse” of a patient called Ruben Navarro, who died at the Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo in February 2006. Roozrokh has pleaded not guilty.
