What nature could teach America about cybersecurity

“IN CYBERSPACE, the war has begun.” That is what the US Commission on Cybersecurity, a group that has the president-elect’s ear, was told by one of its respondents.

Set up because of fears that a cyber-attack could bring the nation to its knees, the commission this week released its recommendations. The report recalls the UK’s struggle during the second world war to decrypt Nazi communications, explaining the US is now in a similar situation “but not playing the role of the British”.

Government and company networks are being routinely subjected to attacks. Redesigning outdated infrastructure, reorganisation and a “cyber czar”…
