The intelligent text by Einstein biographer Walter Isaacson is surprisingly serious, with German documents translated. There are slips – for example, nothing on Einstein’s powerful opposition to the hydrogen bomb. Nonetheless, this elaborate production makes for a pleasurably distracting read.
