Feedback: eHarmony's love formula fails to woo ad watchdog

IS ALL fair in love and war? The UK’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) thinks not, since it has ruled that a billboard ad for online dating website eHarmony was misleading. “Step aside, fate. It’s time science had a go at love,” London commuters were told, “eHarmony’s scientifically proven matching system decodes the mystery of compatibility and chemistry so you don’t have to.”

The complaint was filed by a man who should know: Lord Lipsey, the joint chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Statistics, and himself a former member of the ASA council. The body…
