Samir Mathur is professor of physics at The Ohio State University. He obtained his MS in physics in 1981 at IIT Kanpur, and his Ph.D. in 1987 at the Tata Institute, Bombay. He held postdoctoral positions at the Tata Institute and Harvard, and a junior faculty position at MIT. His interests cover quantum gravity and string theory, with a particular focus on understanding Hawking’s black hole information paradox.
