Letter: Sorry, wrong sun

Published 28 October 1995

From Thomas Dolphin

Given that Humphreys and Larsen of the University of Minnesota believe that they have discovered the true location of the Sun within the Galaxy (New Scientist, Science, 7 October), will we have to send another mission after the Voyager probes to catch up with them and change the information inscribed on their plaques? After all, it would be pretty hard on the alien civilisation to have come all that way just to find themselves in the wrong solar system.
