Letter: Letters : Don't think about it

Published 12 July 1997

From Jack Palmer

Canberra, Australia

The quantitative analysis of unconscious perception
(New Scientist, Science, 21 June, p 18)
establishes what has already been apparent in a vague
way, as the following traditional lines demonstrate :

A centipede was happy quite, until a frog in fun

Asked “Pray which leg goes after which?”

Which raised his doubts to such a pitch

He fell distracted in a ditch

Not knowing how to run.
