You dismiss calls to ban GM foods as a knee-jerk reaction that “ignores the
possible environmental benefits of some modifications”.

Does this mean that policies to introduce GM foods are a knee-jerk reaction
that ignores the possible environmental hazards?

Perhaps your failure to realise this is why you find calls for a moratorium
“deafening” rather than wise.
