Elizabeth Griffin’s challenge to ageism in academic funding
(Forum, 20 March, p 48)
can be put even more briefly: why hire young researchers in preference to
older ones because they “have more potential” if you are consistently going to
stop funding them before they have time to fulfil that potential?
