From Peter C. Prosser

The possible treatment to control the development of myopia with drugs such
as pirenzepine offers a useful new tool, but one which must, of course, be
monitored closely optometrically. The suggestion under the headline of Nell
Boyce’s article that “short-sightedness may be on its way out”, is therefore
somewhat misleading—unless some future generation is content to administer
drugs to every child indiscriminately. I hope that day never comes.
