Interstellar meteor fragments may have been found in the Pacific Ocean

27 June 2023

An expedition to hunt for fragments of a possible interstellar meteor has found 40 tiny iron spherules on the sea floor – but whether they are truly interstellar is controversial

This image shows a small section of the Veil Nebula, as it was observed by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. This section of the outer shell of the famous supernova remnant is in a region known as NGC 6960 or ??? more colloquially ??? the Witch???s Broom Nebula. https://esahubble.org/images/heic1520a/

We're hurtling into a new region of interstellar space. What now?

Plasma sail spacecraft could soar like an albatross to Alpha Centauri

2 December 2022

A spacecraft equipped with a "sail" made from plasma could build up speed by repeatedly crossing the boundary at the edge of the solar system, just as an albatross soars by taking advantage of regions of different wind speeds

Interstellar meteorite may be awaiting discovery on the sea floor

12 August 2022

A pair of astronomers say that classified US government sensors detected an interstellar meteor hitting Earth in 2014. Now they want to mount a $1.6 million expedition to find fragments of it on the sea floor
