Seventh Son author Sebastian Faulks: 'I'm 3.7 per cent Neanderthal'

By Obomate Briggs

Our New Scientist Book Club has been reading Sebastian Faulks’s The Seventh Son, a futuristic sci-fi thriller in which a young woman answers an ad to carry a child that is, unbeknownst to her, produced entirely from Neanderthal DNA. This week, our culture editor Alison Flood got to catch up with the award-winning novelist to talk about his research for the book, his own surprising genetic make-up and what it is to be human.
